Tommy and the teacher

One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children. The teacher asked a little boy:
Tommy do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.
TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.
TEACHER: Did you see God?
TOMMY: No.
TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see God because he isn't there. He doesn't exist.
A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the boy some questions. The teacher agreed and the little girl asked the boy: Tommy, do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yessssss (getting tired of the questions by this time).
LITTLE GIRL: Did you see the sky?
TOMMY: Yessssss
LITTLE GIRL: Do you see the teacher?
TOMMY: Yes
LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brain?
TOMMY: No
LITTLE GIRL: Then according to what we were taught today in school, she must not have one!

Confessions of a Blogger

I like this confessions game....

1. I've always secretly adored people with red hair, freckles and piercing blue eyes - breath-taking

2. When reading something really interesting I have to read out loud or it won't process well lol.

3.One of my biggest fears used to be dissapointing others (though most of the time the fear was dissapointing myself)

4. I love seeing people that've been married for super long - makes me smile and quite frankly gives me hope too

5. I like daydreaming about what my future life is going to be like - What it'll be like to have a husband and kids and all the rest lol

6. But on the other hand I'm terribly scared of sex and getting pregnant - I can't imagine that part of marriage and to be honest... I don't really want to.

7. I get super nervous around babies

6. I am an addicted blogger- I love reading other peoples blogs especially Christian and natural hair blogs

8. I lovee talking to strangers - I've met and gained some wonderful friends through this :)

9. I HATE interviews, the idea of selling yourself, I perceive as nothing but boasting.

10. I've been wanting to delete my facebook for a while - I just haven't plucked up the courage to do so yet.

11. This may be a shock for some but I don't ever want to own a car. I want a bicycle or take the bus or take the train or tram, I don't know maybe it's the Dutch in me

12. I sometimes wish I lived in a different era - any era but todays, preferably 1950/60s the time of Martin Luther King, Black Liberation, Recognition of the black history, Rhythm and Blues and most of all fashion - My favourite era of fashion.
But now everyone but a few have lost the plot - singers and polictians alike.

Better Father

Hii lovelies, so I HAVE to share this with you guys what happend yesterday (The last day of my Easter holiday) . Basically I was on my laptop just browsing the internet (as you do). I wasn't really feeling myself - like I was having an out of body experience, I was feeling quite dull, as I thought about how I was going to cope going back to college with no money.

Now this had been pondering over and over in my mind - I hadn't spoken to my dad for aages (he lives in Switzerland) and the last time I spoke to him, we barely had a decent conversation  and he said he'd send me some money every month to fund for college needs and what-not. So anyway the conversation got cut short due to certain circumstances and he promised to call me back the next day. That never happened. I waited and waited and waited, and I know your probably thinking "Why did YOU not phone". I did after a week and found that my number was BARRED; barred??? Are you serious, my own father barred my phone calls. But to my suprise I wasn't really... dare I say... Bothered, not one bit! At first whenever I needed something (that something was always money) I'd phone him and he never gave the impression that it annoyed him hmm... So little Ole' miss Sherida kept asking and asking... (This was before I met Christ) So anyway that same day I prayed and prayed not for God to make my dad answer my calls but to give me strength to deal with the situation. I wasn't spiteful or angry. I had my Heavenly Father who is greater than any father on Earth so I felt happy anyways. SO as I sat lurking on the internet my phone rings, I didn't have to look twice to realise that 0041 was a call from Switzerland. I picked my phone up calmly and said hello:

"Sheri Sheri" He replied in an unusual happy tone "I phone you many many times, Why you not pick my phone" (lol)
Of course the conversation carried on and on to the point where we were both speechless and whatever had happened before really did not matter, not to me (or him I hope)
"Sherida, I send you money through Western Union - you pick it up yes?"
"Um" Here I'm contemplating a bit on what to do, option 1 - sound excited or sound 2 - accept humbly... or option 3 - not accept at all... Lol at the last option. Plus he taunted me till I said ok (daaww)

But basically the moral of this story is  that PRAYER CHANGES THINGS and in this case God was soooo benevolent and magnificent; the words of my prayer had not even finished flowing and He was already on the case - What I also know is that God always gives me more than I need, because trust me, the provision I received on that day was waaay more than I asked for. Even  at the time when I felt really low, a couple of words were heard by the Lord Almighty -
Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Random stuff about

me you probably don't know...

1. I love having conversations about life  - I don't mean the average 'oh look how bad the world is' But more of the science, for example eveything you see has been put together to immaculatly and perfectley to the exact proportion of 1.61803399 (1.62 when rounded up). What do Skyscrapers and insects have in common? Nothing right? Wrong, when broken down according to size, the proportions add up to 1.62 - I could go into detail which brings me to.

2. I hate relaxers - I absolutely detest them.On my hair of course - I think it suits others but not mine lol. My mum started chemically straightening my hair when I was like 3 or 4 -  It wasn't till february 2010 when I cut of all my relaxed ends, I actually didn't know the texture of my hair - I remember my friend back in high school had really curly, kinky hair - I liked it but had nooo idea that my hair could do the same. Now l won't ever touch a relaxer ever again, let alone relax my future daughter’s hair (If God permits me to have a daughter). No matter how ‘nappy’ it is.

3. I have an obsession with lip-balms... I collect'em. So far I've got at least 15 different ones and I don't use any of them apart from one which is the cheapest one out of all of them but works the best. I know "strange" right?

4. I don't like maths but I really like algebra... Don't ask.

5. I don't like slang. Let's just leave it at that shall we?

6. I think ginger hair (and freckles) is super beautiful, I have a few people that will protest this but could I care less? No.

7.I really want to learn how to play a guitar

8.I love to read - My favourite authors/poets are Benjamin Zephaniah, William Shakespear, Charles Dickens, Sophie Kinsella, Majorie Blackman and mooorre, but these are all I can think of for now

9. I've never seen the Godfather

10. I don’t believe in horoscopes, fortune tellers, physics, medium - The whole lot

11. In the whole of my life I have lived at more than 30 different houses and counting (In different countries too) No I'm not a gypsy my mum just can't decide where she wants to live lol.

12. I could watch Friends TV show all day long

13. I used to play the saxophone.

14. I'm a Contemporary dancer but have always been fascinated with Ballet.

15. Which brings me to the fact that I wish I was more flexible

16. I love Oats - I have it every morning when I have time lol

Get Yo Hair Did!

Herrloooo bloggers and bloggettes, here is a story I found lurking around but there's a twist! - Yes a twist I added myself. It's Called "Get Yo Hair Did" - hehe

A lady went to a hair salon to get her hair done up. As the hairdresser began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects: When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said:

“Guuurrrlll you know I don't believe in none of that - God DO NOT exist"

“Oh really now Miss Laday? Why do you say that?” asked the customer.

“Gurl you kiddin me? All you gotta do is step outta this salon to realize that God doesn’t exist
"Aight tell me,  if God exists, would there be so many darn sick people huh? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there wouldn't be no pain. I CANNOT imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.”

The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because she didn’t want to start an argument.
The hairdresser finished her job and the customer left the shop. Just after she left the barbershop, she saw a woman in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and what looked like hair sprouting from her chin. She looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the salon and he said to the hairdresser: “You know what? Hairdressers do not exist.”

“Say What?” asked the surprised barber. “Girl you know you playin, I just fixed yo weave gurl, how you go play me like that!”
“No!” the customer exclaimed. “hairdressers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty shaggy hair like that woman outside.”

“Ah see but but hairdresser DO exist, see That’s what happens when people do not come to me.”
“Exactly!” affirmed the customer. “That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist! That’s what happens when people do not go to Him and don’t look to Him for help. That’s! why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”

The End. :)
God loves you [:)]

One and only...

Jermaine Craig.

Hey guys, so i'm back with another update of what's 'poppin' (lol excuse my american accent). So a while ago I interviewed a photographer and young entreprenuer called Jermaine Craig from England - Ahem... I say England because, when interviewing him I forgot to ask him where abouts in England he's from and I don't really want to go back and ask him one stupid question which I should have asked before, sounds silly I know but trust if you were in my position you'd understand...
Anyway where he's from ain't that much of a big deal, it's where he's going that will make a difference. The reason I chose to pick him to interview is simply for his work, which I find quite stunning and as an aspiring photograher/graphic artist etc. myself I find it inspiring to know someone who has started in the same position as myself and is working themselves to the top. I first found Jermain Craig on Myspace (I think?); don't ask me how, it was myspace, adding random people was my day job (lol). But on a serious note his work is impressive, particulary the website he created for Jay Solomon. It's very simplistic but yet gets the point across. I like how he has filled the space with just a photograph, no hassle but yet works effectively.
Oh and my personal favourite of all his work is this:
Yet again simplicity is evident and the use of mark-making is extra-ordinary, I'm not too sure what medium is used here but I'm gonna take a wild guess and correct me if I'm wrong but some sort of square shaped object; perhaps a sponge? Well either way this is my favourite out of all his work; as I've mentioned above like a million times hehe.
So yeah, I suggest you go check him out at http://www.jermainecraig.co.uk/
There's some other stuff on there that I'm sure you're bound to find eye-catching and inspiring :)

I'll post the interview tomorrow or something, because my PC has just decided to act up on me - Hence why I have a passion for MACs, humph, to be added unto my wish list.
